Katherine Gutierrez, LMHC & Certified EMDR Therapist

Hello my name is Katherine. After embarking on a personal  journey of healing and self discovery, I founded Awakened Counseling Services. My hope is that I can create a safe space where my clients can experience the same healing power of therapy that changed my life. I am passionate about my work with adolescents, young adults and the incredible changes many clients experience through the use of EMDR.

From anxiety to depression, to self-esteem or self-doubt, to helping survivors of unhealthy or abusive relationships, you are now in the right place. I personally know how difficult it can be to desperately seek quality help and find someone, only to later learn that they are unfit to help you. Finding someone that can truly understand and can make a difference in our lives is not easy. Because I personally understand I have made it my life’s passion to help my clients overcome these challenges.

My years of experience in both the educational system and mental health, have prepared me to provide my clients with the results that they deserve. And this is what I want to offer you starting now. I am confident that together we will develop a healing plan for your life that you will be proud of. Getting to the root of the problem is not just what I do. It’s what I specialize in and what I want to offer you today. You don’t have to figure this out alone. Give me a call for a free consultation. My hope for you is that you will soon get to experience the healing power of therapy.

Katrina Robin Volante, MA, RMHCI

Hi there, I’m Katrina and I look forward to taking this journey with you. Before becoming a mental health counselor, I worked as a school administrator and elementary school teacher in Boston, Italy, and China. These roles introduced me to how the quality of our home lives can impact our performance in and enjoyment of school and work, affect how we build friendships, and influence the decisions we say “Yes” or “No” to. I transitioned into mental health counseling while living in Shanghai with my family. This experience offered me the opportunity to work with adolescents, adults, and couples from six continents and to learn how, despite cultural and linguistic differences, we all seek meaning, purpose, and acceptance in our lives. It also provided me the unexpected opportunity to learn how to offer crisis counseling both online and in-person to those living under COVID lockdown and quarantine conditions, something that prepared me to participate in on-the-ground crisis counseling services in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian. In my current practice, I work with adults aged 17+ and couples on a range of mental health concerns, such as depression and anxiety management, improvement in functioning while living with OCD, LGBTQIA+ empowerment, identity exploration, life transitions, and relationship issues/ preventative relationship work. In addition to offering services based in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and affirmative counseling, I invite clients to consider a constructivist perspective, a form of therapy that draws on our innate power to re-story our own lives and create the quality of life that we not only deserve, but one that supports us towards our highest potential. Outside of my clinical work, I lead independent research on populations and areas of interest, such as the experiences of the religiously disaffiliated, cultural artefacts as protective factors in healing, and consumer access to, as well as transparency of, mental healthcare information. I also co-author research articles and textbook chapters. If you have read something that resonates with you or to learn more about how I can help you develop a healing plan unique to you, I invite you to reach out. I would be honored to listen to your unique story, concerns, and needs.

Andrew Volante, BA, Certified Career Coach

Hello, my name is Andrew. It’s a pleasure to meet you. I am a career coach, college consultant, and teacher. Before becoming a career coach and college consultant I was in international education as a teacher and school administrator for over ten years. During those years I had the opportunity to help students achieve academic success and plan for a successful future, and to help my staff and colleagues grow into the successful professionals they truly are. Coming back to America I was able to see how many people outside of international education were also reaching out for career coaching. As the economy, technology, and country grow and change faster than ever before, what we all need sometimes is someone to talk to. To connect us to the resources we need, to help us identify a job from a career, to decide which school (if any) is right for us, to help us establish realistic goals, and sometimes just to bounce ideas off-of. It is my passion to help those who seek the opportunity to grow and improve themselves succeed. Whether that be switching careers, seeking a promotion, choosing a college major, or deciding what trade school to go to. The years working in the education system have provided me with the ability to ensure that, regardless of where they are in their career, my clients get the results they deserve. If you find yourself needing that hand-up, guidance, or some help navigating the changing job landscape, it would be my pleasure to walk that path with you.
